How do Dental Plan Types Differ?


Plan Type Dentist Choice Out-of-Pocket Cost
DPPO Fewer Limitations: You’re not limited to in-network dentists, but choosing a DPPO in-network provider will give you the lowest out-of-pocket costs. Coinsurance: Pay a fixed percentage for procedures. You may have a deductible and a maximum.
HMO (Prepaid Plan) Limited Network: You must select a single dentist or facility, and out-of-network procedures won’t be covered. Copayment: You pay a set copayment for designated procedures. Typically no deductible or maximum.
